Tech Lighting's full range of components can create a custom MonoRail layout to meet virtually any application. Garbe's can assist you in the design your system with the right transformer, track color, and mounting hardware to fit your custom applications. Mounting hardware components are field cuttable to custom fit your layout to exacting standards.
  • The first step in designing your MonoRail system is to determine the number and placement of heads required for your application.
  • Next design your track layout and determine the amount of track required. Remember to have your track layout intersect the transformer or canopy to supply power. A good method for determining the amount of track need is to draw the track layout at 1/4 scale. Trace your layout with string and measure the length. Multiply the string by 4 and you have the number of feet of track required. If multiple lengths of track are required or if track must be cut to length, be sure to include the connectors needed.
  • Determine the required wattage of transformer by adding the wattage of all lamps on your track layout. Next determine the style of transformer that best suits your application. Remote transformers offer a low profile look to your system, however they require access. Surface mount transformers can be mounted to any standard j-box.
  • Determine how far from the ceiling your layout should drop. The minimum drop off is 2" - 5" depending on the type of transformer you select. The maximum standard drop is eight feet.
  • Finally, add standoffs to fully support your layout. One standoff for every three feet of track is recommended. Rigid standoffs are recommended for curvy applications and when multiple glass pendants are used.
  • Specialty mounting hardware is available for vaulted ceilings, cantilevering track from walls, and special power feed components.
