Custom Design Kable Lite Systems


Tech Lighting's full range of components can create a custom Kable Lite layout to virtually any application. Design your system with the right transformer, cable style, and mounting hardware to fit your custom applications. Mounting hardware components are field cuttable to custom fit your layout to exacting standards.
  • The first step in designing your Kable Lite system is to determine the number and placement of heads required for your application. Choose the elements and accessories that best fit your lighting needs and decorating ideas.
  • Next, determine your cable separation. Tech Lighting recommends the following: For ceilings up to Eight feet, a 3.5" separation is recommended. Nine foot ceilings can accept up to 5.5" separation. Ten foot ceiling can take up to an 8" cable separation.
  • Design your cable layout, keeping in mind that straight runs with simple turns are recommended. Also remember to design your cable aso that it passes within two feet of your power source.
  • Determine the amount of cable you will need by doubling the length of your layout with an additional 10% for attaching the cable to the turnbuckles. Cable is sold by the foot.
  • Determine the required wattage of transformer by adding the wattage of all lamps on your cable layout. Next determine the style of transformer that best suits your application. Remote transformers offer a low profile look to your system, however they require wall or ceiling access. Surface mount transformers can be mounted to any standard j-box.
  • Determine how far from the ceiling your layout should drop. The minimum drop off is 2" - 5" depending on the type of transformer you select. The maximum standard drop is eight feet.
  • Finally, add standoffs, turnbuckles and other hardware to fully support your layout. Additional supports are recommended for cable spans of more than 20 feet, or when cable must support the heavier pendants.
  • Specialty hardware and power feed components are available to satisfy unique layout requirements.

  1. Cable: WS #12 gauge chrome, WSL #10 gauge chrome or gold, WSLI insulated clear or black sheathing.
  2. T Turnbuckles: Heavy-duty turnbuckles secures cable to walls or ceiling and provides proper tension. For expansions over 20' wood blocks are recommended. (Sold in pairs gold or chrome)
  3. SRT Transformer: Surface mount transformer for wall or ceiling. 12 Volt 75 Watt, 150 Watt, 300 Watt, 600 Watt. 24 Volt 600 Watt. Mounts to standard 4" J-box (Chrome, Gold, Satin Nickel, Black, White)
  4. KTSO Standoff: Cantilevered single post standoff moves cable away from the ceiling at desired length and cable separation. (1", 2.5", 3.5", 12", chrome or gold)
  5. D1 Connector: Connects cables while keeping both sides of circuit separate. Right side powered by (#3) SRT transformer, Left side powered by (#8) AT transformer.
  6. Johnny: Low Voltage Halogen element in a variety of lengths to span different cable separations of drop below cable.
  7. K-Cone: Italian Murano Glass low-voltage halogen decorative pendant.
  8. AT Transformer: Remote, accessible transformer in 12 Volt 150 Watt, 300 Watt, 600 Watt, or 24 Volt 600 Watt, 1200 Watt. Kable Lite canopy (sold separately) delivers power to cables.
  9. KP-2C: 2" square canopy mounts to special 2" electrical J-box (included). 24" hand bendable leads (field cuttable) connect canopy to cable turnbuckles.

  1. T1 Turnbuckles: Slimline turnbuckles tighten cable at wall or ceiling. (for runs under 20')
  2. KTSO Standoff: Single post T standoff.
  3. SOT12 Standoff Turn: Standoff provides clean direction change 12" from ceiling. For 2" to 36" cable separation. (includes pair of standoffs and 1 turn support)
